‘Tis the Season for Triple-Dog-Daring as A Christmas Story, The Musical Begins Broadway Run

Ralphie, the Bumpus hounds and that infamous fragile leg lamp will high-kick their way to Broadway as A Christmas Story, The Musical begins previews on November 7 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Opening night is set for November 19, with the holiday engagement running through December 30.

Newcomer Johnny Rabe leads the cast as Ralphie Parker, a bright-eyed nine-year-old whose love for Christmas is only outdone by his desire for the perfect gift: a Red Ryder BB gun. This ‘40s-set musical is adapted from the classic 1983 holiday movie of the same name and includes all of the film’s beloved characters, including the Old Man (John Bolton), Mother (Erin Dilly), Randy (Zac Ballard), Santa (Eddie Korbich) and narrator Jean Shepherd (Dan Lauria).

The show's full company includes Caroline O’Connor, Tia Altinay, John Babbo, Charissa Bertels, Grace Capeless, Zoe Considine, Andrew Cristi, Mathew deGuzman, Thay Flloyd, George Franklin, Nick Gaswirth, Mark Ledbetter, Jose Luaces, Jack Mastrianni, Mara Newbery, Lindsay O’Neil, Sarah Min-Kyung Park, J.D. Rodriguez, Analise Scarpaci, Lara Seibert, Jeremy Shinder, Luke Spring, Beatrice Tulchin, and Kirsten Wyatt.

A Christmas Story boasts music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul and a book by Joseph Robinette. John Rando directs the production, which features scenic design by Walt Spangler, costumes by Elizabeth Hope Clancy, lighting by Howell Binkley, sound by Ken Travis, wigs by Tom Watson, orchestrations by Larry Blank, music direction and supervision by Ian Eisendrath, dance music arrangements by Glen Kelly and vocal arrangements by Justin Paul.
